Adequate Seven - Last Night In London mix (DIP031)

Site update: 1st November

Winter seems to have made an appearance just in time for Bonfire Night, so here are some hot chestnuts of news to keep you warm through November

post-rock sound

The ADEQUATE SEVEN album, Last Night In London, sounds amazing and acts as a fitting testament to exactly how great they are / were live. Recorded at their last London gig, at the Underworld in September, the artwork will document the band over the past five-or-so years.

Along with our friends at Banquet Records we're running a coach trip from Kingston to Cardiff for the last ever Ad7 show on 10th December. The album will be available to buy at the show, but if you can't make it you can pre-order online now.

With singer Colin Doran officially passed fit to sing again, the HUNDRED REASONS tour has been rescheduled for January and ORKO will be doing seven of the shows. Reviews of Creating Short Fiction have been positively gushing:

The plethora of musical influences grows as the record proceeds... However, the accomplishment lies not in the list of influences drawn from, but rather the sheer skill of Orko's songwriting. Heartfelt choruses sit happily beside strong instrumental buildings - and when brought together, Orko are unstoppable. - 9/10, Drowned In Sound.

Creating Short Fiction is littered with a host of great tracks... Nearly every one of the twelve offerings have meaty hooks so strong that they could easily be put out as a single... One of the best debuts you're likely to hear in the whole of 2006. - 4/5, Rock Midgets.

Duff Muffin have a new name to coincide with the completion of their debut album.

THE JB CONSPIRACY are playing a bunch of shows between now and the end of the year - check their MySpace page for details.

You can also check out tracks from the forthcoming album, recorded with Peter Miles (The Steal, Ad7), which will be here before the end of the year.

GAVIN OSBORN is the latest member of the GDIP collective. Gavin's songs mix the personal with the topical, and are essentially mini-stories about things he finds heroic. Like how Charlie Brown always comes over to kick that ball even though he knows Lucy will take it away. They are sometimes funny, sometimes sad and always great. In addition to performing with many of the UK's top comedians across London, including being a regular fixture at the much-lauded Political Animal nights, Gavin has toured the UK and Ireland with Daniel Kitson and performed with him at a sold out Regents Park Open Air Theatre this summer. We're recording his album over two nights in London, on 18th and 19th December at Lowdown At The Albany. Details are still being sorted out, but expect Mr Osborn to be accompanied by the likes of Daniel Kitson, Andy Zaltzman, Alun Cochrane and, possibly, a man dressed as Johnny Cash. There will be fairy lights and fairy cakes, it will all be a bit special and there'll be more news about these shows soon.

JACOB'S STORIES is on tour on the East Coast of the US with Cave In frontman Stephen Brodsky. Check the Tour Dates page for details. The pair will be playing UK shows together next February. Also on tour soon are Pylon, Capdown and Dartz!

And finally... Cable were a really important band in the early days of Gravity, playing shows at Bacchus, in the shop and generally being wonderful and encouraging in addition to being one of the finest bands in the history of the world. It's fitting, then, that DAVE HOUSE, TELLISON and STAPLETON have contributed tracks to Souvenir - A Tribute To Cable, alongside the likes of Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Tom Vek.

That's it for now, lots more in about 28 days' time.
