12th December
And so, we come to the end of another year, as evidenced by men dressed as 7ft high fairies on wheels in Kingston town centre, the plethora of 'Top Ten of 2006' lists absolutely everywhere and the impossibility of compiling your own end-of-year Best Albums list.
 |
A definite contender for just such a list and right in time to act as a fitting memorial to one of the UK's best live bands of recent years, ADEQUATE SEVEN's Last Night In London is now in stock. Having said goodbye to them at an emotional farewell home town show in Cardiff, this is a fitting tribute and an amazing document of their time as a band.
The new JB CONSPIRACY album This Machine is available to pre-order now and promises to be one of the premier ska punk releases of 2007. They've just played Ska Is Dead and will playing loads more shows over the next couple of months, so you're sure to be able to catch their brand of socio-political ska with a fun twist somewhere near you.

GAVIN OSBORN will be recording a live album over two nights at Lowdown at The Albany, on 18th and 19th December. DAVE HOUSE will be playing the 18th; Matt Winkworth will be playing the 19th. There'll be fairy lights and fairy cakes, badges and balloons and quite possibly other unexpected things.
There are stacks of forthcoming GDIP Tour Dates online now, including JACOB'S STORIES dates with Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum, HUNDRED REASONS and ORKO touring together, CAPDOWN's album tour, TELLISON shows aplenty and the long-awaited live return of DAVE HOUSE.
DAVE HOUSE will be back in action in 2007, with live shows, a new album and a the latest in the GDIP split 10inch series with JENNY OWEN YOUNGS, due in February. Jenny's a longtime Gravity favourite and collaborated with Dave on an utterly wonderful cover of Strawberry Switchblade's Since Yesterday on the B-side of You Are On My Frequency. She's since signed to Nettwerk and was mentioned in The Guardian's Greatest Albums You've Never Heard feature. This will be her debut UK release and will precede the release of her album Batten The Hatches. The 10inch will include two tracks from each artist: Dave contributes brand new song Beep Beep Hi Hi and Death And Taxes (by Kid Dynamite); Jenny's songs are Fuck Was I and Hot In Here (by Nelly).

With the holidays upon us, you could do much worse than celebrate at the NEW SLANG / GDIP Xmas Party on 21st December at The Works in Kingston. Featuring a very special teenage bohemian headliner and DAVE HOUSE live, plus all the songs you want to hear until 3am, and a load of festive fun, it's undoubtedly the place to be.
That just about wraps up 2006 for us, thanks for your support over the last twelve months. Next year promises all kinds of goodness from the aforementioned DAVE HOUSE / JENNY OWEN YOUNGS, THE JB CONSPIRACY, GAVIN OSBORN, TELLISON and SATORI, just for starters. Happy holidays to you and your's.
