Site update: 27th July

As we swelter into August, why not fan yourself with the current issue of Rock Sound? As well as offering you slight relief from the heat - or is that "fanning yourself actually makes you hotter from the effort of fanning" theory correct? - you can read interviews with The Steal (currently playing some shows with everyone's favourite re-formed ska gods, Lightyear) and Jacob's Stories and check out 'Unfinished Idea no.209" from the Jacob's Stories album on the covermount CD. Jacob's Stories can have a mixed cast of characters when they play live, but ultimately it's the work of one man. Stuart Lee has been skirting around the periphery for quite some time now, with the odd release here and the odd one there. But now this Brighton-based balladeer has finally completed his debut full-length and it's simply stunning. Mixing sparse instrumentation with Lee's haunting vocals, 'Fledgling' is a truly captivating album - slotting into your record collection somewhere between Aereogramme and Radiohead circa 'Kid A'. Now, Thom Yorke does have a solo album out this month too, but if you've got any sense you'll spend your money wisely and get this record instead. Coming up in October, we'll be doing the UK release for the Satori album, 'Savor Every Moment'. Steve from the band, who was also in Link 80, has recently quit RX Bandits to concentrate on Satori fulltime and we're excited to be involved with the album. The band will be in the UK in mid-October for some more shows.

Duff Muffin have finished recording their debut album, which is currently slated for release in October. Check their MySpace for tracks as soon as mixing's finished in mid-August. Tellison start recording what should be an amazing debut next week in Scotland and we'll doubtless have more news about that next time round.
